De Beriot's Six Spanish Airs, originally written for two violins, are a delightful addition to the duet repertoire for string players.  A contemporary of Mendelssohn and known as the father of the Franco-Belgian violin school,  De Bériot was a prolific composer of works for the violin and a virtuoso violinist.  Six Spanish Airs, also known as six Duos Caractéristiques, were composed for two violins circa 1850.  De Bériot borrowed themes from the once  popular work, Ballet Espagnol by Prince  Yusupov.  These duos will enchant a new  generation of string players with a Spanish  romantic flavor that features beautiful lyrical  melodies, a fandango and a bolero.
